55 people remain on trolleys at University Hospital Galway today according to the Nurses and Widwives Organisation.

Full capacity protocol was implemented again yesterday and some trolleys were moved from the Emergency Department to the Medical Assessment Unit.

The HSE says elective inpatient admissions are being reviewed on a case-by-case basis and some have been deferred.

The INMO says there is a serious lack of frontline staff because of the recruitment embargo.
