FORMER GALWAY MAYOR ELECTED TO SEANAD EIREANN

Former Mayor of Galway Niall O' Brolcháin has been elected to Seanad Eireann.The Green Party's candidate saw off the challenges of Fine Gael's Owen Bannigan and Labour's James Heffernan to take the seat with 119 first preference votes.He will be officially sworn in tomorrow afternoon.Niall O' Brolocháin was selected as the Green Party nominee following the resignation of Labour's Alan Kelly last June.
