There are plans to convert the former National Irish Bank at Eyre Square into a fast food restaurant and take away.

Danske Bank, the current owners of the premises at 30 Eyre Square, have given consent to BEB practical property partnership to lodge a planning application.

Danske Bank made the decision to shut down its network of almost 30 Irish branches including the site at Eyre Square earlier this year.

Hillbilly's fried chicken, which opened it's first franchise in Donegal last year, is expected to take over the running of the premises.

If it gets the go ahead it could mean the employment of up to 10 staff.
