A councillor has described comments made by the leader of Fianna Fáil in relation to commercial rates in Galway as "Iincredulous, convenient and populist."During a visit to the city yesterday, Micheál Martin said high rates were crippling local business and needed to be reduced.A Labour proposal to slash rates in the last budget was voted down in favour of a proposal by the then Fianna Fáil Mayor Mike Crowe. In light of this, Councillor Billy Cameron has blasted Mr Martin's stance as a convenient U-turn which lacks any credibility.
