€500K LOSS TO CONNEMARA IN REJECTION OF WIND FARM

Date Published: 28-Aug-2011
A number of landowners with commonage shares in a Connemara mountain are counting the cost a decision against a Wind Farm recently handed down by an Bord Pleanála.
The planning board ruled against planning permission for a wind farm in a mountainous area halfway between Derrynea and Camus.
It is understood that a yearly rental of a half a million euro would be paid to local people for the use of the mountain during the lifetime of the proposed Wind Farm.
