The Tánaiste says the Government is determined to do the right thing by the survivors of the Magdalene Laundries.
Eamon Gilmore was speaking ahead of a Dáil debate on Dr Martin McAleese's report on the issue, which found significant state involvement in the laundries.
Galway Bay fm news reports the Taoiseach Enda Kenny is expected to apologise to the women affected today.
The Madgalene laundry on Forster Street in Galway city closed in 1984.
Eamon Gilmore says the Government has met with many of the survivors.
