Drainage works to tackle Oranmore flooding issues
Galway Bay fm newsroom – Recurrent flooding issues on the Coast Road in Oranmore will be tackled under new drainage infrastructure works planned for the area. Galway County Council is accepting tenders for the contract, which will involve works from the Orantown Centre roundabout towards the Coast Road. Previously, the council had cleared existing drains, but insufficent drainage capacity led to persistent flooding. The works will involve the installation of a new pipe system with increased drainage capacity, and the placement of an overlay when the pipes are laid. Senator Fidelma Healy Eames says this infrastructure will be a relief to residents in the area.
