A development company has lost it's bid to build 74 houses on a floodplain in Oranmore. Lackagh Group Properties has been refused permission by an Bord Pleanála to build phase three of a development on the Frenchfort floodplain. In examining the case, the Board decided to uphold Galway county planner's refusal. It said the proposed development would constitute an inappropriate design and would be a poor quality residential environment. It also said it would prejudice an eco-corridor of sensitive land in the floodplain and would interfere with a number of historic monuments in Oranmore.
