Developer loses attempt to omit creche from Oranmore housing plan
Galway Bay fm newsroom – Galway County Council has decided that the expansion of a housing estate at Oranhill, Oranmore must involve a new creche. Dun Coillin Construction applied to the planning office to make elevational changes and minor alterations to floors plans at the planned housing development. The company had also applied to remove a previous condition of planning which stipulated that a creche be provided on site or nearby. County planners have granted permission to Dun Coillin Construction with 18 conditions attached. One of the conditions states that a creche must be provided by the developer on site or nearby to serve the occupants of the proposed houses. This is despite the developer applying to have that condition removed. Another condition states that the developer must pay more than 700 thousand euro to the planning authority as part of the Development Contributions Scheme. Planning permission for the development at Oranhill will expire in November next year.
