Galway West Fianna Fail TD Eamon O'Cuiv is one of four former Ministers nationwide to decline a severance payment.

It's reported that former Cabinet members are entitled to 75 percent of their ministerial salaries for six months and further reduced monthly payments for a year after that.

Fianna Fail leader Michael Martin, Deputy Brendan Smith, a former Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food and former Labour Junior Minister Roisin Shortall have all refused the severance payment.

Speaking on Galway Talks, Deputy O'Cuiv says he gifted 76 thousand back to the state and says he has an adequate salary to live on.
