David Gray to headline city’s Arthur’s Day gig

Date Published: 23-Aug-2010
Multi-Platinum winning artist David Gray will headline the Arthur’s Day music lineup in Galway next month.
And a limited number of additional tickets to the gig, from a specially erected stage at Folan’s Quay in the Docks area, will go on sale at 9am this (Tuesday) morning.
The Galway event, which will start at about 4pm on September 23, will also feature artists including Newton Faulkner, the Magic Numbers and Sharon Shannon.
It’s all part of a series of concerts nationwide organised by Guinness to celebrate Arthur’s Day, an event introduced for the first time last year, in honour of the pioneering brewer and philanthropist who signed the 9,000 year lease on the St. James’s Gate Brewery in 1759 and introduced Guinness to the world.
Tickets cost just €10 on www.ticketmaster.ie and the proceeds will go towards the Arthur Guinness Fund.
In addition to the outdoor concert, there will also be performances in a number of Galway pubs by artists including Duke Special, A Band Called Wanda and Johnny Flynn, for which tickets cost €5. Participating pubs include Kelly’s, Roisin Dubh’s, Taaffes and Tigh Cóilí.
