CUSTODY REMAND FOR MAN CHARGED WITH CITY HOUSE SIEGE

A man who is charged with barricading himself and a woman inside his home in the city last month and with obstructing Gardai who were called to the scene, has been remanded in custody until tomorrow.35 year old Damien McElroy of 30 John Coogan Park, Newcastle appeared before Galway District Court today.Judge Mary Fahy remanded Damien McElroy in custody to Harristown District Court sitting tomorrow and she requested a psychiatric report be made available to the court.Defence solicitor, Valerie Corcoran requested that her client be seen by the prison psychiatrist while in custody.
