COUNTY COUNCIL URGED TO DEMAND EXTRA ROADS FUNDING

Date Published: 22-Nov-2011

The County Council is being urged to request extra funding from central Government to carry out more road repairs.

Councillor Jim Cuddy claims people asking the county council to repair roads are being told it can't be done until after Christmas.

He also says some roads in need of urgent repair have been reported for over a month and still nothing has been done.

A spokesperson for the county council roads section says they are carrying out repairs "within the resources made available to them".

They also say that because of the funding allocation, they have to prioritise repairs on roads.

Jim Cuddy says people are entitled to travel on safe roads.
