Council urged to abolish county development contributions
Galway Bay fm newsroom – Development contributions could become a thing of the past in the county if the County Council decides to abolish them. Contributions are paid on planning approvals as part of the Development Contribution Scheme towards the cost of services for an area, such as footpaths and lighting. Independent Councillor Jim Cuddy is asking the Council to abolish the extra charge because people are now paying a property tax. Speaking to Galway Bay fm News, Councillor Cuddy says that Council officials are now investigating whether its possible to get rid of development contributions.
