Galway city council says it is in complete unison over future action on the Occupy Galway camp in Eyre Square.

Director of Services Ciaran Hayes made the statement after being challenged by Councillor Padraig Conneely on the legality of the encampment.

In response, Ciaran Hayes said he and and city manager Joe O' Neill are taking action on the Occupy Galway protest.

This involves speaking with Gardaí on legislation such as the criminal justice public order act.

At a city joint policing committee earlier, Garda Superintendent Marie Skehill said there was no obstruction or disturbance and people had a right to protest.
