CONTRACT SHORTLY TO CHANGE N6 IN THE CITY

Galway City Council is expected to award the contract to carry out Phase 1 of the Bóthar na dTreabh, N6 improvement scheme this week.

Last month the Council agreed to change the roundabouts along the N6 through the city into traffic light junctions.

Phase 1 of the N6 Multi-Modal Corridor Improvement Scheme involves ground works along the link roads between the roundabouts in the city.

Meanwhile there have been 3 submissions of interest for the contract to change the Lynch roundabout at Briarhill into a traffic light junction, which is Phase 2 of the scheme.

The City Council says it will award the contract for this part of the scheme in the next fortnight.
