The Connemara sea fishing victim recovered off the Galway coast earlier today has been named locally as Gearoid O'Cualáin or Gerry Folan.

His body was found on St Macdara Island following a large scale air and sea search for the 43 year old Dúithir, Carna native who failed to return to shore last evening following a fishing trip.

His currach was later located drifting towards the Aran Islands with nobody on board.
