Galway Bay Fm newsroom

A crew of seven sailors set out from Connemara last night on their way to the Arctic Circle.

They are now heading northwest on what is expected to be a fortnight long voyage - depending on the vagaries of the weather - to coasts of Greenland.

Meanwhile the anniversary of the historic Alcock and Brown landing near Clifden is being marked in Connemara today.
