CONNEMARA CHILD SEX ABUSE TRIAL OPENS

The trial of a 64 years old Connemara man who is charged with the sexual abuse of a child over a two-year period during the 1970’s has opened before a jury at Galway Circuit Criminal Court
The man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, denies six sample charges of indecently assaulting the girl on various dates between July 1, 1973 and July 22, 1975 at a Connemara location.
A jury of seven men and five women was sworn in to hear evidence in the trial which is expected to last until Thursday.
