CONCERNS OVER COUNCIL PLANS FOR SLUDGE PLANT IN ORANMORE

A sludge treatment plant in Oranmore could sound the death knell for new jobs in the area.That's according to Oranmore area councillor Jim Cuddy, who has expressed serious concerns that a sludge treatment plant COULD be located in the Glenascaul area by the county councilThe plant would take in sludge from all over the countyThe proposed site for the sludge treatment facility is also close to a hotel and a proposed IDA Science and Technology park in Oranmore.Councillor Cuddy says the treatment facility could have a serious impact on employment prospects between Galway city and Athenry.
