CONCERNS FOR JOBS AT TWO GALWAY HOMEVILLE STORES

Date Published: 17-Jul-2012

Concerns have been raised for the jobs of 25 staff employed at Homeville Stores in Tuam, Ballinasloe and Athlone.

Fine Gael Cllr Tom McHugh says receivers have this month advised staff that the three outlets are to be wound down and closed following the completion of a liquidation sale.

It's understood letters were also issued to employees at the homeware, giftware and textile retail outlets, outlining their statutory entitlements.

Speaking to Galway Bay fm news, Cllr McHugh says it's a huge blow for the areas and government action is now needed.
