CLOSURE OF CORRANDULLA GARDA STATION HUGE BLOW TO COMMUNITY

The closure of Corrandulla Garda station has been described as a huge blow to the rural community.
The station now has just one permanent Guard, compared to 10 years ago when a Sergeant and two gardaí were stationed there.
It's among 31 Garda stations across the country, and the only one in Galway, that will close next year.
Councillor Mary Hoade says the community is now at a real loss.
