A county councillor has begun her campaign to keep road verges trimmed and potholes filled in North Galway.Tuam area Cllr Mary Hoade is claiming that council road engineers have been told not to cut verges and not to fill potholes in some areas. A spokesperson for Galway county council has confirmed restrictions are in place due to the reduced funding available between now and the end of the year. Another senior council official admitted that engineers have to prioritise resources that they DO have and some areas just won't get maintained before Christmas. However they added that the most dangerous areas of the county are being looked after. Cllr Mary Hoade says she'll be fighting for more money for road repairs in the upcoming budget talks.
