The principal of the new Claregalway secondary school has paid tribute to the local community in advancing the project.

Alan Mongey says he's thrilled planning permission has been granted for the interim accommodation at the Claregalway business park, and plans to hire new teachers can proceed.

The 2 storey temporary school building will include 12 classrooms, 7 additional specialist classromms and a GP hall.

CEO of Co. Galway VEC Joe McDonagh says this is yet another important milestone in the provision of second level education in Claregalway.

The building programme is on schedule for the deadline of August 26th

All the classrooms and assembly hall should be complete before the school opens in September with 157 students enrolled so far

Speaking on Galway Talks, Principal Alan Mongey said the local community had been instrumental in getting the new school to this stage
