A busy city road remains closed today after an articulated lorry crashed into the railway bridge at Lough Atalia at approximately 10 o'clock today.

Nobody was injured in the crash but Gardai at Mill Street say that the road from the Raddison hotel to the Dock Road will be closed for the rest of day and possibly for tomorrow.

Diversions are in place and some rail services to Galway have been delayed by the crash at the bridge.

Iarnrod Eireann say the 0730 dublin train was delayed by 20 minutes and the 0935 galway to limerick train was delayed 50 min due to road crash at the bridge.

Meanwhile the stretch of road which was closed due to flooding between Dr Coolhan Road and Seapoint has reopened within the past hour.
