CITY MAN SENTENCED FOR SLASHING BARMAN'S FACE

A Galway Circuit Court judge has warned a 19 year old city man that he is not impressed by people who use conception or marriage when facing serious charges before the courts.

John Ross Mongan, of 208 Lurgan Park, Renmore, got married to his pregnant girlfriend last Wednesday - the day before he was due to be sentenced for slashing a barman’s face with a knife.

Mongan will be spending the honeymoon in prison having been sentenced to two years and six months for the attack.
