CITY MAN REMANDED IN CUSTODY FOR HEADFORD ROAD ASSAULT

A 21 year old city-man charged with assaulting another man in the early hours of yesterday morning has been remanded in custody. Daniel Herron of Cluain Fada, Headford Road, is charged with assaulting Stephen Noone at 24 Lus Leana, Headford Road, contrary to Section 3 of the Non-fatal Offences against the Person Act. Inspector Pat McHugh applied for Herron to be remanded in custody and told Judge O'Brien there would be further more serious charges laid against him at his next court appearance. There was no application for bail but Herron did apply for free legal aid. Judge O'Brien remanded Daniel Herron in custody to appear before Galway District Court on Monday September the first.
