CITY COUNCIL PURCHASE PROPERTY TO DEVELOP CULTURAL HUB

A Cultural Quarter is to be developed in Galway City.Galway City Council has confirmed that it's purchased properties at 17 and 18 Lower Merchants Road to develop the area as a cultural hubThe City Council previously purchased15 Lower Merchants road to lease it to the SOLAS Consortium for an Arthouse Cinema.As the properties at numbers 17 and 18 Lower Merchants Road are close to the City Museum and proposed Arthouse Cinema, the area is now to become a cultural quarter.City Manager Joe McGrath has highlighted the fact that a cluster of cultural facilities in Galway could become a major tourist attraction for the city.Detailed proposals regarding the usage of the properties will be presented to members of the council in the new year.
