Galway Retailers are calling for a crackdown on cigarette smuggling.

Prosecutions for smuggling tobacco more than doubled in the city last year - up from 5 people in 2009 to 12 in 2010.

In a survey by campaign group Retailers Against Smuggling, 63 per cent of Galway shops said the situation is going to get worse over the next 12 months.
