CALLS FOR MAJOR MEETING ON GALWAY AIRPORT

Date Published: 07-Nov-2011
Galway organisations, local representatives and TDs are being asked to stand in solidarity in an effort to secure the future of Galway airport.
Councillor Jim Cuddy has asked County manager Martina Maloney to convene a meeting with interested parties to discuss what steps can be taken.
Around 43 staff were made redundant at the Carnmore facility when Aer Arann suspended its flights in and out of Galway for the Winter.
Councillor Cuddy says every effort should be made to prevent the closure of the airport.
