CALLS FOR HSE WEST TO PUBLISH CITY NURSING HOME REPORT

The HSE west is being pressed to publish the facts behind its decision to close a state owned nursing home in the city.

Galway West TD Derek Nolan wants the organisation to produce its reasons for closing St. Francis Nursing home on Newcastle road.

A report by HIQA, the health information and quality authority, on the facility has already been published.

Meanwhile, HSE West managers are planning to meet with residents of a city nursing home in the coming weeks to explain their decision to shut it down.

Over 10,000 people have aready signed a petition to save the facility, with campaigners now planning to take the petition to the Dáil.
