The boil water notice in place on the Mid-Galway public water supply since 2009 has finally been lifted.

The notice was implemented in November 2009 after heavy flooding, which resulted in the supply becoming contaminated.

The Mid-Galway Public Water Scheme covers a large area of the county from Abbeyknockmoy to Ballydavid to Brackloon, including Monivea and Colemanstown.

Galway County Council has invested in a top-of-the-range water purification system for the Mid-Galway scheme.
