Bathing ban lifted at Ballyloughane beach

Galway Bay fm newsroom – A bathing ban has been lifted at Ballyloughane beach in the city. The no-swim notice was published at the amenity on Wednesday following the discovery of high levels of bacteria. Results of a water sampling process carried out early this week revealed the presence of intestinal enterococci. A resampling exercise has since taken place and city officials have this afternoon deemed the water safe to bath in. This is the second such ban at the amenity in recent months. A proposal to address ongoing contamination concerns at the beach is to be brought forward by Irish Water in October.
