A new film which suggests that Aran Island residents were put in danger when making the documentary "Man of Aran" is set for international release.

The film "A Boatload of Wild Irishmen" takes a critical look at some of the practices used on the Aran Islands by US born Robert O Flaherty when making his "Man of Aran" documentary in 1934.

"A Boatload of Wild Irishmen", by Connemara producer and director Mac Dara O Curraidhin, suggest that while Flaherty was a great film maker he also put Aran islanders in danger by getting them to hunt for sharks, a practice that had died out a century before he filmed "Man of Aran".

Speaking on Galway Bay Fm Mac Dara O Curraidhin says his film, shows the two sides of the methods used in making "Man of Aran" back in 1934.
