Annie's Ball to help promote mental health among young

THE launch of Annie’s Ball in aid of the Positive Mental Health Foundation took place in the Galway Bay Hotel on Thursday evening.Positive Mental Health is a Galway-based charity group which aims to address mental health issues in young people by running workshops in schools which encourage young people to communicate more openly about their feelings and the issues which affect them.“Doing good things for others for no selfish reasons” is the motto which the foundation lives by and two of the facilitators spoke for a few minutes on the nature of their work in the schools and the many ways in which it enlightens both themselves and the students, the latter of whom seem to develop a trust in the team after only a couple of weeks.The keynote speaker, Councillor Neil McNelis, spoke of the crying need for such an initiative.
