ALZHEIMER HOME PROPOSED AT MERLIN PARK

A residential and day care centre for people suffering from Alzheimer's Disease in Galway could be in the offing. The West of Ireland Alzheimer Foundation hopes to demolish a fire-gutted house in the grounds of Merlin Park hospital and build a 22 bed unit for Alzheimer sufferers in it's place. The Foundation also plans to include offices and service rooms, car parking and landscaping. City planning officials will announce a decision on their application towards the end of January.
