Galway city is to get up to 25 million euro for transport projects over the next 5 years.

Galway West T.D, Derek Nolan, has confirmed that the National Transport Authority is providing the money through its 'Regional Cities Programme'.

Last week, Junior Minister for Transport, Alan Kelly, visited Galway to discuss proposed projects with various stakeholders.

Meanwhile, a decision is also expected today on the winners of the Department of Transport's Smarter Travel Competition, which is separate to the funding announced by the NTA.

Speaking to Galway Bay Fm News, Deputy Nolan, says the 25 million euro will be spent on a range of transport projects in the city.
