Galway In Days Gone By

Agricultural show
To-day (Friday) Prince Maharajah Jam Sahib of Nawanagar, better known as Prince ‘Ranji’, the famous cricketer and M.A. of Oxford, will open at Roundstone, in the heart of Connemara, a show of Connemara ponies, general agricultural stock and produce, and home industries.
Apart from the interest of the opening, the event ins unique for it is the first show of its kind in Connemara within our experience.
One hundred and sixty Connemara ponies and five stallions figure in the entries and the livestock and industrial section marks and achievement which Father White, the wonderfully energetic pastor, and those who have enthusiastically assisted him, may well feel proud.
Roundstone has given a great and courageous example to the rest of Connemara, and, indeed, to far bigger towns throughout the west.
