Muc Rí, the latest show from Fíbín sa Taibhdhearc, which is being presented as part of the Galway International Arts Festival, will have its world premiere this week.

Written and directed by the company’s Artistic Director Philip Doherty, it will be staged in the City’s Fr Burke Park from this Thursday, July 14, to Saturday, July 16, at 11pm nightly.

Muc Rí is an absurdist, radical and operatic re-imagining of a relatively unknown myth recounted by Lady Gregory in her collection, Gods and Fighting Men, explains Philip, who likens it to “a graphic novel on stage”.

The cast includes contemporary dancer Eoin McDonncha and Michéal Ó Dubhghaill from Conamara, as well as Lochlann Ó Mearáin – most recently seen in the RTÉ series Smother – and Athenry singer/songwriter Julie Feeney, who will also perform live music with Dessie Harrington, Bruno Pierucci and Jak Sherrard.
