Loughrea pharma company is named Multinational Exporter of the Year

Chanelle Pharma was named Ireland’s Multinational Exporter of the Year at the 2019 Export Industry Awards just before Christmas – testament to Michael Burke’s lifetime of work in establishing the Loughrea-headquartered company and building it into the successful multinational it is today.
That the company won the award beating US multinational Abbott Ireland and the global company Irish Distillers demonstrates the high standing in which Chanelle Pharma is held as one of Ireland’s most successful exporting companies.
Chanelle Pharma exports generic pharmaceutical products for human health and animal health to over 90 countries around the world. These products are manufactured at the company’s global headquarters in Loughrea where over 550 people are now employed.
In 2018 Michael Burke announced the single largest investment by any Irish owned company when he announced an €85 million investment programme to double production capacity in Ireland.
Mr Burke attributes the company’s success to continuous investment in production capability, in R&D and in people.
“The fantastic team of people working in Chanelle are putting Loughrea on the global stage as a centre of Pharmaceutical excellence and it is a tribute to the combined efforts of our people that Chanelle is being recognised in Ireland and worldwide for its exporting success,” he said.
“We are delighted to share this success with the people and town of Loughrea and as we grow into the future our town will continue to benefit as well,” he added.
