It will bring something very different to the community

Galway's newest business is opening this month and are using a 'free day' to celebrate.

Laoch Saunas, a wellness facility, is opening at Colga FC in Clarinbridge bringing a 12-person wood fired sauna and cold plunge experience to the community.

The sauna will offer shared sessions for individuals, as well as private group bookings for sports teams and clubs, friends, and families.

To celebrate the launch, Laoch Saunas will host a free Open Day on Saturday, September 12th, with free sauna and cold plunge sessions and treats available throughout the day.

Everyone is welcome to come along, meet the team, and try the experience for themselves.

Sessions can be booked through the Wunderbook app and opening hours and updates are available on Instagram at Laoch_Saunas.

In other openings for Galway, a new pub’s grand reveal was postponed last minute as excited villagers will have to wait another while for a sup.

The village of Aughrim was giddy with excitement over the news that a closed down bar was reopening under new ownership on Friday after a long wait.

Renamed the Inn 1691 after The Battle Of Aughrim, one of Ireland’s worst historical fights where 7,000 soldiers were killed, sadly new owner Eamonn encountered a speed wobble outside of his control which halted the reopening on Friday.

He did ensure punters that a new date was coming soon, however.

He said: “Due to unforeseen circumstances and through no fault of our own, we sadly had to postpone the opening of Inn 1691.

“We apologise for any inconvenience caused. We will notify you of a new opening date as soon as it is available.”

One happy local said they were “over the moon” to hear that Aughrim had its pub back once again and was happy to wait another while to get inside.

They said: “I want to wish Eamonn and all the staff the very best of luck with the new venture. I have known Eamon for a lot of years and I have absolutely no doubt he will make a right go of it.

“It will be great to see the place buzzing again. Please give him all the support you can and tell your friends.”
