Galway Actors Workshop will offer training opportunities in musical theatre next month, when Australian performer Claire Healy, will give two weekend workshops.

Acting Through Song, taking place on Saturday and Sunday, September 6 and 7, will focus on creating characters within song in both solo and ensemble contexts.

There will be work on vocal technique, but the sessions will concentrate mainly on storytelling through song. Previous singing experience would be a bonus, but not essential.

Singing Audition Preparation will take place the following weekend, September 13-15, and will focus on doing the best singing audition, whether it is for musical theatre, plays featuring music or auditioning for drama school.

The workshop will explore vocal technique, song choice, vocal style and creating a character through song.

Participants will also get tips on combating nerves.
