Folk trio The Whileaways will play the City’s Black Gate Cultural Centre, Francis Street, on Wednesday next March 21. The band will be previewing material from their forthcoming album, their third.

Noelie Mc Donnell, Noriana Kennedy and Nicola Joyce have a collection of songs written and ready to be recorded and have just launched a Kickstarter campaign to fund the record. Their last release Saltwater Kisses led to them being invited to perform on The Nathan Carter Show and The Late Late Show, and tracks from the record were regularly played on Radio One’s The John Creedon Show.

"We've been involved in some really interesting collaborations over the last couple of years, including working with the NUIG orchestra and the Saltwater Brass and String Ensemble for last year's Galway Arts Festival,” says Nicola Joyce. “We want to present a little taste of this sound on the album, but also to explore  the very opposite of this – the bare vocal tapestry that really represents what we are all about as a band"

This special gig at the Black Gate will be streamed live on Facebook for fans abroad and for those who don't manage to get their hands on the limited tickets.  People are also invited to pre-order the new album online through The Whileaways  Kickstarter campaign.

■ Doors for the gig are 8pm, tickets €15.
