Tuam’s Strange Boat launch debut album, Gnome with Canavan’s gig

Tuam band Strange Boats will release their debut album, Gnome on Terrible Twin Records this Friday, September 6.
The band have been busy recording the album over the last two years at Sun Street Studio. Engineered by Kenny Ralph and mastered by Fergal Davis, this new release features 10 brand new tracks including the singles Boys Walk Faster Than Girls, Nice To Be Alone and Teenage Love Convention, which have all received airplay on 2fm, Today FM and RTE Radio 1.
Gnome takes its name from a Samuel Beckett poem of the same name (which is recited by Leo Moran of The Saw Doctors on a hidden track). The album also features the talented Tuam-born violinist Sarah Lynch (Lord of the Dance and Mundy) who most recently played on stage with Mumford and Sons in the Phoenix Park.
Tori Olsen, of influential underground music blog Sound and Motion said "Falling in the same vein as alt-rock duo Japandroids, Strange Boats make it very apparent that they have the ability to capture nostalgia and give it a modern sound, all without being too retro".
Strange Boats will officially launch Gnome with a gig in Canavan’s, Tuam this Friday, September 6. Special guests for the event are are Payback Time (Leo Moran, Padraig Stevens, Anthony Thistlethwaite) and Dan Trayers.
Doors are at 9pm, tickets cost €10.
