Town Hall opens its doors with wide variety of shows

The Abbey Theatre has teamed up with Galway’s Town Hall to present a livestream of its latest production, the premiere of Rosaleen McDonagh’s new play, Walls and Windows. That’s on this Friday and Saturday night, August 27 and 28. It marks the beginning of a busy few weeks at the Town Hall, with plenty of live performance on the way too – including drama from Decadent Theatre, and a co-production between Landmark Productions and Galway International Arts Festival.
There will also be music from The 4 of Us and Paddy Casey and comedy from Julie Jay, Kevin McGahern and Neil Delamere in the coming weeks.
First up is the Abbey with Walls and Windows, a love story that examines how external circumstances pull people apart, even when they want to be together. It will also be available on-demand until September 11.
The Town Hall Theatre and GIAF will present Decadent Theatre’s production of Kevin Barry’s There are Little Kingdoms until September 11. The Festival-Landmark co-production of Enda Walsh’s Medicine, is at the Black Box from September 2-18. In-person tickets are sold out, but are available for the livestream and on-demand performances.
The Town Hall will celebrate Culture Night on Friday, September 17, with award-wining soprano Aimee Banks, accompanied by Colm Henry (keyboard) and special guest David Kennedy. This in-person and online event is free but ticketed.
On Saturday, September 18, County Down’s The 4 of Us will make a long-awaited return to Galway to give acoustic performance, including hits songs like Mary from their chart-topping albums of the 1980s and ’90s.
