Award-winning Galway poet and singer/songwriter Gerard Hanberry leads the featured reader line-up at the next Poetry Lobby in the city’s Menlo Park Hotel. Supported by Poetry Ireland, it will take place on Sunday, March 1, from 3pm to 5pm.

Gerard will be joined by Polina Cosgrove, Trish Bennett and Emer Lyons, all hosted as usual by local poet Anne Donnellan, followed by an open mic.

Gerard’s poetry has been published by Salmon Poetry and he also writes non-fiction, including a biography of the Wilde family and On Raglan Road: Great Irish Love Songs and the Women Who Inspired Them. He is currently working on his fifth poetry collection.

Polina Cosgrave is a bilingual writer based in Dublin. Her debut poetry collection My Name Is was published by Dedalus Press. Her work has appeared on TV, radio and in numerous anthologies and magazines, including Winter Papers, The Stinging Fly, Crannóg, Southword, Banshee and The Irish Times. Polina’s second poetry collection Cargo was published by The Gallery Press in 2024.

Trish Bennett is an award-winning writer and performer from the Leitrim/Fermanagh border. Her work explores many themes, from the landscape of her people to the comical escapades of her family and other creatures.

Emer Lyons has a PhD in lesbian poetry from the University of Otago. In 2025, her show PART(S)(W)HOLE was part of the Scene + Heard festival, she was the Áras Éanna Artist in Residence on Inis Oírr, and an Irish Writers Centre Annaghmakerrig resident.

All are welcome.
