Short course for young musicians
Galway Music Residency is hosting an Ensemble Skills Summer Course from June 4-6 in Galway City.
Aimed at young string players aged between 10 and 20 years, this three-day non-residential course in the O'Donoghue Centre at NUIG, will allow participants to deepen their chamber music and ensemble skills, under the guidance of the ConTempo Quartet.
Young violinists, violists and cellists can apply for the junior course (Grades 3-5) or the advanced course (Grade 6-8+). Ensembles will be formed during the three-day training.
Sixteen participants can be accommodated on each course, consisting of eight violinists, four violas and four cellos for each one.
People will be chosen on a first-come, first-served basis and will receive individual tuition from the ConTempo members. Tuition is free but an administration fee of €25 per person will apply.
Participants must bring their own music stands, sheet music printed, a pencil, a sharpener, eraser and rosin.
If the person is under 18 years, the application form must be filled out by a parent or guardian
