Alternative-rock four-piece Telebox have been one of the most explosive live acts in Galway for several years; a product of youth music project Livefeed, the band formed when its members were still in school, forcing early momentum through all-ages events and songs they recorded themselves.

Though they remain very young, there is a sophistication about the group, made up of Joe Kelly, Conall Ó Floinn, Stevie Healy and Eoin Killeen. They have already amassed over 60 gigs, sharing bills with the likes of NewDad, The Murder Capital and Kynsy.

This summer, Telebox are set to release their second EP – When Night Turns into Day. The project’s first single, House on Fire, arrives this Friday. It is a collection of songs that began to emerge in August of last year, after the band returned from an interrailing trip around Europe.

“We kind of took that to gain some experiences – we took our time and we all started writing when we got back,” Stevie explains.

“The two lads [Conall and Joe] moved to Cork. Joe is in the Cork School of Music, and there’s really good facilities there where we get a chance to practice. We got a real chance to jam and explore our music and we really focused on the music and took our time with writing.

“We found a new sound and we explored different effects and pedals. I was writing some more complicated drumbeats, and we were trying to pull it together in a way that was the best music we could make.”

Though relocations have put distance between the group’s members, Telebox seem only to be growing as a live band.

A summer tour is soon to be announced, and the four-piece are already scheduled to play Sea Sessions in Donegal, as well as launching their EP in the Róisín Dubh on July 15 as part of the Galway Arts Festival.

“The amount of time we get to see each other is less frequent, so we’re spending really good quality time working hard because we know it’s so limited,” Joe insists.
