Rock music reached something of a peak with AC/DC – the Australian’s rockers’ music hasn’t aged, and they remain as popular as ever.

The riffs from Highway to Hell and Back in Black, the choruses from You Shook Me All Long and Whole Lotta Rosie – if you know any, or all, of these then your head is hopping with some proper rock ‘n’ roll.

If you want to hear this music done well, then the planned gig from IE/D in Monroe’s on Friday, June 9, comes highly recommended. The Naas-based band played their first show in April 2014, having put in a fair few hours before they eventually took to the stage.

“We’d been together a year before that,” says lead-singer Eoghan McHale. “The five of us had been been playing in different bands over the years, original bands and covers, and we decided to put this thing together because we thought we had the tools to do it.

“We rehearsed for a solid year, because obviously, there’s a huge back catalogue. There’s a lot of hits, a lot of stuff that people expect to hear, stuff you can’t get away with not playing."

Thunderstruck is high on that list for Eoghan so IE/DC are set to play that song, and a whole lot more on June 9. Tickets €10, doors 9pm.
