Pot-luck art auction for children’s charity

Galway artists are directly responsible for 34 submissions among almost 1,000 original pieces of art that are up for grabs in a ‘pot-luck’ online auction for charity.

Incognito is a virtual gallery of 978 original pieces of postcard-sized art features artists from all over Ireland, as well as around the world.

The works will be auctioned next Thursday, May 28, in aid of the Jack & Jill Children’s Foundation, which like many charities, is struggling for funding to keep its services going during the current pandemic.

These original postcard-sized artworks will be sold online on a first-click-first-served basis for €50 each, with the prospect of acquiring a piece that’s valued at far more than that.

But the pot luck element is that the identity of the artist will not be revealed until the successful purchaser receives their art in the post, with the artist’s signature on the back .

Contributing artists include Mick O’Dea, Alice Maher, Christopher Banahan, Vincent Devine, Martin Mooney, Victor Richardson, Martin Gale, Guggi, Bridget Flinn and Adrian+Shane.  Members of the Munster rugby squad, Bruce and Patti Springsteen, Una Sealey and the Project Twins have also got creative for the cause.
